SAV supports the “Happy Hens, Happy Eggs” workshop
Students in simulated cage at Happy Hens, Happy Eggs workshop at Greenfield School
"Dark, cramped, stuffy, painful,...". These are the words used by students at Greenfield School after an immersive experience in a simulated battery cage used for laying hens in industrial egg production.
The experience was a part of the "Happy Hens, Happy Eggs" workshop held on January 22nd, 2026.
Sentient Animals Vietnam was honoured to attend this educational workshop led by:
- Vietnam Animal Welfare Association (VAWA)
- Vietnam National University of Agriculture
- Asia for Animals' Farm Animal Coalition.
The event was organised by the passionate students of the DEC Environmental Club at GreenField.
During the event, students from Grades 5 to 12 learned about the natural behaviours of chickens and the dark side of industrial caged production systems.
Documentary footage showing the lifelong suffering of industrially farmed laying hens left a lasting impression on the students. After the workshop, students gained a new perspective on the food they consume daily and developed greater empathy for laying hens.
It was a pleasure to support this effort and witness the shift in students' awareness of farm animal welfare.
